Our Mission & Vision
To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
United Methodism:
We are a United Methodist Church, one of the 500+ churches within the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference. The United Methodist Church is a 12.8-million-strong global denomination that opens hearts, opens minds and opens doors through active engagement with our world. The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.
Mission & Purpose:
God loves you, and no one can separate you from that fierce love of God. Our purpose at Trinity United Methodist Church is to be an enthusiastic community of God’s love in action. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ, we seek to share this love in response to human needs, hurts and hopes.
No one is unqualified to receive God’s abundant grace and love. Whether you’re new to church and faith or a longtime Jesus-follower, you will be loved regardless. All are welcome here.
Past Story: The Cornerstone
Trinity United Methodist Church has an amazing history, which began prior to 1853 when the Methodist Episcopal Society of South Amboy initially met in its members’ homes. The Methodists remained actively engaged in worship and Bible study, and as membership grew, they built a church and dedicated on November 16, 1854.
In April 1963, Cavalry Church reunited with us to form the Methodist Church of South Amboy. In 1966, the church purchased 10 acres for relocation from the Parkway Authority, and the cornerstone was laid September 22, 1968. A transition service was held on December 15, 1968.
In 1981, Cliffwood Church joined us, and our name was changed to Trinity United Methodist Church, one church born of three!
Present:
Moving Forward
& Together
Over the years that Trinity United Methodist Church has grown and served the people of South Amboy and Sayreville, the church in the woods always has been a place where people found comfort and peace. Both members and their guests experienced God’s love and grace at this place and shared that love with one another.
But best of all, we have a place waiting for you! Whether you’re new to church and faith or a longtime Jesus-follower, we hope you will stop in, join in our current experiments to form a Christian community, and participate in building the Kingdom of God.

At all the times you can, to all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.– John Wesley
